Mirko Ferlan

Mirko Ferlan got his degree, with accordion as main instrument, at the conservatory G. Puccini in Pesaro in 2001 and the degree in choir conducting and composition at the conservatory G. Tartini in Trieste in 2007.
He studied with professor A. Martinolli and professor M. Sofianopulo. In 2014 he also gained a master’s degree in choir conducting. He often attends courses and masters held in Slovenia, Italy and abroad by high profile representatives of the choir scene: Kalman Strauzs, Peter Hanke, Ragnar Rasmussen, Georg Grün in Frieder Bernius, Simon Hassley and Steffen Schreier. He has been conductor and permanent artistic director of various vocal groups in Gorizia and Trieste and has collaborated as hosting conductor with the cultural association Art Atelier and the choirs Ljubljanski madrigalisti, Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia and Bodeča neža. He has conducted the mixed choir F. B. Sedej in Števerjan (GO), the girls choir Kraški slavček in Nabrežina (TS), the men vocal group Sv. Jernej in Opčine (TS), the mixed choir Postojna (SLO), the cultural association Krog, the academic choir of Univerza na Primorskem (SLO) and the mixed choir Vox Tergesti (TS). With his choirs he has won several awards in national and international competitions. He is currently teaching accordion and music theory at the music school Emil Komel (GO), along with the youth vocal group functioning within the same school.
He has been conducting from its very foundation the girls choir Igor Gruden in Nabrežina, with which he has been awarded in many local, national and international competitions ( 2nd place at the national competition “Il Garda in coro”, 1st place at the international youth choirs competition in Neerpelt, Belgium, 1st place with compliments at the regional competition for youth choirs in Nova Gorica, Slovenia). In 2019 he was awarded 1st place at the regional competition Coro vivo together with the prize for best conductor. He is currently also the artistic director of the boys vocal group in Devin-Nabrežina. Since 2020 he has been the conductor of the regional youth choir of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
